A Nigerian lady has raised concern online after sharing details of a conversation she had with a commercial bus driver regarding alleged voter card manipulation ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to her, the driver claimed he had just returned from a mandatory meeting organised by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), where certain activities related to voter participation were discussed.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she said:

“I boarded a bus and the driver said he just came back from a mandatory NURTW meeting. According to him, they were given one derica of rice, their voter’s cards were collected, and their fingerprints were taken on palm kernel seeds.

He said whether you show up to vote or not, your vote is already in their hands. He even claimed students are being offered ₦500k to surrender their voter cards.”

The lady expressed deep concern over the claims, noting that such actions, if true, could undermine the credibility of the electoral process and weaken public trust in democratic institutions.

She further emphasised that many Nigerians may not fully grasp the seriousness of the situation, especially with the elections still months away.

“We’re honestly not angry enough,” she added.

Social media users have reacted to the post, with some expressing fear and frustration over the alleged claims, while others questioned the authenticity of the driver’s statements and called for proper investigation.
