MRirian, also known as Magibon, is an American YouTuber who was born on August 9, 1986, and currently resides in Japan. In 2006, Magibon started posting films of herself serenely gazing into the camera on YouTube. These videos gained popularity in Japan, and 2008, her channel topped the country’s rankings. Magibon’s YouTube channel went inactive after she made multiple media appearances in Japan, with her most recent video being posted in 2014.

Margaret Lillian Adams was born in Florida and has lived in Pennsylvania since 2008. During high school, she developed an interest in Japanese pop culture. She formerly worked as a pharmacy clerk before becoming well-known on YouTube. Online, Adams used the username “MRirian”.
She was a fan of the Japanese girl group Morning Musume and eventually adopted the nickname “Magibon” after former member Ai Kago’s nickname, Aibon.

Career
Adams initially signed up for YouTube using the username “MRirian” and watched Japanese bands’ music videos there. She made a test video of herself waving at her webcam in July 2006 and posted it online with the description “Me doing nothing.” Her video gained popularity in Japan after being posted to 2channel. She was shown in Adams’ later recordings at home, either staring at the camera or saying nothing.
She remained silent in her previous recordings because she was nervous, Adams told The Japan Times. As Adams said to PingMag, the reason her silent videos were successful was because her audience found them “meaningful”—that is, they would “make everything stop for a minute, and have someone just smile at them.” In order to communicate with her Japanese fans and practice speaking the language, she spoke Japanese in her subsequent videos.
Magibon also included a few “dry metahumor” acts, including eating pizza and drinking from a bottle of soy sauce. She would thank her viewers with a graphic at the conclusion of her videos. With 4.15 million views by 2008, Adams’ channel was the most popular on YouTube in Japan.
In February 2008, Adams was featured and interviewed on the weekly serialized program “Let’s Look for the Mysterious Idol, Magibon!” on Maru Maru Ai Kora. GyaO, a Japanese streaming site, aired Nama Yaguchi, a Thursday segment of the Japanese variety show Midtown TV!
In April 2008, Adams made her debut in Japan through the radio program Stream on TBS Radio, the April 14, 2008 issue of Weekly Playboy, and Maru Maru Ai Kora! Nama Yaguchi. GyaO!’s parent company, Usen, had scheduled a fan event for April 12, 2008, but after receiving numerous threatening emails, it was canceled owing to security concerns.
Adams continues to go back and forth from the United States and make appearances in Japanese media. From May 12 to May 19, 2008, she was highlighted once more in the Weekly Playboy magazine. After a crew member heard Adams read a French poem on one of her YouTube videos, she was chosen to voice a little French child in the movie Blue Symphony. She participated in Blue Symphony’s world debut on October 22, 2008, at the 21st Tokyo International Film Festival in Roppongi.
After being highlighted in the Weekly Playboy’s November 10, 2008 issue, Adams made his way back to Japan. She performed with other YouTube musicians and celebrities, such as Kreva and BoA, during YouTube Live Tokyo at Studio Coast on November 23, 2008. I

Adams finally stopped making videos on YouTube; her most recent post was made in 2014. Adams began Twitch streaming in 2021. In 2022, Adams launched a new YouTube channel to promote tourism in Yamaga, Kumamoto.
