He will join compatriot Frank Onyeka, who moved to the Sky Blues from Brentford at the end of last season.

Lampard is strengthening his squad ahead of Coventry’s return to the English top flight, with Awoniyi bringing considerable Premier League experience to the attack.

The 28-year-old spent the past four seasons at Nottingham Forest after joining the club from Union Berlin in 2022.

Awoniyi leaves Forest after four years

Awoniyi made 103 appearances for Forest across all competitions, scoring 23 goals and providing six assists.

Twenty-one of those goals came in the Premier League, where he made 90 appearances during his time at the City Ground.
