Following the demise of veteran Nollywood actor, Olusegun Akinremi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, a video of him speaking passionately about his plans to celebrate 55 years on stage has resurfaced online, leaving fans and colleagues heartbroken.
In the interview with broadcast journalist Dele Adeyanju on Agbaletu TV, the late actor revealed that the celebration, initially scheduled for September 2025, was postponed to October to give it more significance.
Chief Kanran also disclosed plans for a massive film city project on 75 hectares of land in Ado-Awaye, Oyo State, which he hoped would attract investors, supporters, and donations from within and outside the entertainment industry.
“I am looking at October 2025 to celebrate my 55 years on stage, even though it is supposed to be in September. But I don’t just want to celebrate it for the fun of it. I want it to be significant and to establish some things,” he had said.
Sadly, the actor’s dreams for both the milestone celebration and the film city were cut short by his untimely passing, sparking an outpouring of tributes and renewed calls for better support for veterans in the Nigerian film industry.
