A man caused a scene at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, demanding compensation and recognition for his contributions to the party during the 2023 general elections.

Protest at party headquarters

Eyewitnesses said the man arrived at the premises visibly distressed, shouting and insisting that he had sacrificed his personal assets and well-being for the party’s success.

Security operatives later intervened to calm the situation and prevent escalation.

The incident has since sparked conversations about the welfare of grassroots supporters and party loyalists after election cycles.

Reward me or kill me. I’m a party man and not a lunatic. I have lost so much for the party. I’m depressed and my health is affected,” he reportedly shouted while addressing party officials and passersby at the secretariat.

Claims of sacrifice and loss

The protester further alleged that his unwavering support for the APC cost him his home, finances, and even his family stability, leaving him stranded and without assistance.

I sold my house, I spent more than N30 million for APC in 2023. My wife died, I’m homeless now and APC has failed to reward me,” he said, drawing sympathy from some onlookers.

The 2023 general elections saw the APC secure victory at the presidential level, but similar incidents of aggrieved supporters demanding recognition have surfaced in the past, highlighting internal concerns about post-election engagement and support systems within political parties.
