Residents of the Wasagu area in Kebbi State have been hit by another bandit attack, leaving eight farmers abducted and one other person wounded.

The assault reportedly occurred afternoon while locals were working on their farmlands.

Chairman of Danko Wasagu Local Government, Hussaini Wasagu, confirmed the incident, explaining that the attackers stormed the fields unexpectedly and seized the farmers before fleeing.

The injured victim is currently receiving treatment at the Wasagu General Hospital, and local authorities say efforts are underway with security agencies to secure the release of those taken.

Community sources reported that the gunmen, believed to have crossed into the state from neighbouring Zamfara, operated for several minutes without resistance. They reportedly moved swiftly through the area and disappeared into surrounding forest paths.

This latest incident adds to a troubling pattern of violence in the region. Only days earlier, the same area suffered a high-profile attack in which schoolgirls were kidnapped, prompting widespread outrage and security concerns across Kebbi State.

Reports had revealed that a total of 25 girls had been abducted from their place of learning.

Local officials say surveillance efforts are being strengthened, but residents remain anxious as bandit activities continue to destabilize farming communities already struggling with insecurity.
