Yoane Wissa has increased speculation over his future by removing all traces of Brentford from his Instagram page amid an ongoing transfer standoff.

The 28-year-old DR Congo international, who was omitted from the squad in Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest, is pushing for a move to Newcastle.

The Magpies have already had at least one bid rejected, with Brentford reportedly holding out for as much as £60m, far above their initial £40m valuation.

Wissa’s frustrations date back to the summer when he flew home early from the club’s pre-season camp in Portugal, threatening not to play or train unless granted a move.

Though he later returned to training, he made it clear he expected to be sold once Brentford secured a replacement.

That expectation grew after the Bees completed the signing of Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth, but the club has since stalled on sanctioning the transfer.

The forward, who has scored 49 goals in 149 appearances for Brentford, has now escalated tensions by scrubbing all photos of himself in the club’s colors from social media.

While Tottenham have also registered interest, Newcastle remain in the strongest position to land him before the transfer window closes.
