American socialite Kim Kardashian officially reached the final hurdle in her journey to becoming a lawyer by taking the California bar exam and is now awaiting results.

According to reports, Kim took the gruelling two-day test in late July. The exam, widely regarded as one of the most challenging in the U.S., consisted of five one-hour essay questions, a 90-minute performance test, and 200 multiple-choice questions.

While most examinees take the test in large convention centres, sources suggest Kim opted for a private setting, likely under special proctoring arrangements, to avoid drawing attention.

This milestone comes after years of preparation. Kim, who did not attend law school, pursued the apprenticeship route permitted in California. She passed the “baby bar” exam in December 2021 after four attempts and recently completed her six-year apprenticeship on May 21, 2025. To mark the achievement, she hosted a small graduation ceremony at her home with family and friends.

Despite her demanding schedule filled with travel, TV shoots, and public appearances, including attending Jeff Bezos’ wedding in June, Kim managed to dedicate herself to bar prep. She is currently in Venice, Italy, where she gave a speech while receiving an award for her criminal justice reform efforts.

The stakes are high, as the California bar exam has one of the lowest passage rates in the nation. For instance, only 53.8% of candidates passed the July 2024 sitting.

Kim and thousands of other hopefuls will receive their results on November 7, while the State Bar of California will release the public results on November 9 at 6 p.m.
