Terry Gene Bollea, also known as Hulk Hogan, is an American professional wrestler, singer, actor, television personality, and entrepreneur. The wrestler is instantly identified by his enormous physique, long white hair, handlebar mustache, and signature feather boas.
Growing up, he wanted to be a singer and a baseball player, but he eventually decided to pursue wrestling. He trained under the famed trainer Hiro Matsuda, who fractured Hulk Hogan’s leg on the first day of training. Hogan returned as soon as his leg was healed, earning the coach’s respect and appreciation.
When he joined the WWF, Vince McMahon intended his gimmick to be a red-haired Irish wrestler and asked him to color his blonde hair, which Hogan refused. He eventually rose to prominence and amassed a sizable fan base that he dubbed Hulkamaniacs. He also became well-known for his four “demandments”: training, praying, taking vitamins, and believing in oneself. His career took off after he co-starred with Sylvester Stallone in Rocky III.
Hulk Hogan Biography

Hulk Hogan was born on August 11, 1953, in Augusta, Georgia, USA, to Pietro Bollea, a construction foreman, and Ruth V, a dance instructor. His family relocated to Port Tampa, Florida, when he was a child. He pitched in ‘Little League Baseball’ as a youngster, but an injury halted his promising baseball career. He also spent over a decade playing fretless bass guitar with Florida-based rock bands.
He attended Hillsborough Community College and the University of South Florida, where he left to pursue music. In 1976, he created the band Ruckus with a few other musicians. Many wrestling events were held around Florida, and wrestlers would travel to clubs where Ruckus performed.
Jack and Gerald Brisco, brothers and tag team teammates, observed Hogan and were pleased with his body. Motivated by the Brisco brothers, Hogan began training with Hiro Matsuda, who was known for preparing wrestlers for ‘Championship Wrestling from Florida’ (CWF).

Career
Hogan trained with Matsuda for a year before facing Brian Blair on August 10, 1977. He left him and CWF after his relationship with Matsuda didn’t work out. Hogan decided to join ‘Louie Tillet’s Alabama Territory’ and form a tag team with his friend Ed Leslie (Brutus Beefcake). They were known as “The Boulder Brothers” when they wrestled in Alabama.
When promoter Jerry Jarrett promised them $800 a week, they departed “Tillet’s Territory” for Memphis’ “Continental Wrestling Association” (CWA). Hogan defeated Bob Roop to win the ‘NWA Southeastern Heavyweight Championship’ in 1979, earning him his first wrestling title.
Vincent McMahon asked him to join the WWF in 1979. He defeated Harry Valdez in the WWF for the first time. In 1980, he faced Andre the Giant in his first significant match, losing.
He also participated in ‘New Japan Pro Wrestling’ in the 1980s, when he employed more conventional and technical wrestling techniques, such as the ‘Axe Bomber’ as his final move. He was referred to as ‘Ichiban’ (Number One) by the Japanese, who loved and worshiped him. He became a superstar after defeating the Iron Sheik in 1984 to earn his first “WWF Heavyweight Championship” title. He held the WWF title for 1,474 days from 1984 until 1988.
He became the first wrestler to win back-to-back ‘Royal Rumble’ matches in 1990 and 1991. Hogan won his third “WWF Championship” in 1991 by pinning Sgt. Slaughter at “WrestleMania VII.” He lost the title, nevertheless, against The Undertaker at the ‘Survivor Series.’ After just six days, Hogan regained the title, but because of Rick Flair’s intervention, the title was deemed void.

In 1994, he became a member of Ted Turner’s ‘World Championship Wrestling’ (WCW), and in his first match, he defeated Ric Flair to become the ‘WCW World Heavyweight Champion.’ He lost the championship to the Giants after successfully defending it for 15 months, but contract stipulations later deemed the title invalid.
He defeated The Giant to win his second ‘WCW Heavyweight Championship’ in 1996, but a year later, he was submitted by Luger. He won the title back just five days later, but Sting defeated him. After many disputes, the title was deemed vacant, and Sting ultimately prevailed at “Superbrawl VII.”
In 1998, he defeated Savage in a highly-interrupted “no disqualification match” to win his fourth “WCW Heavyweight Championship,” but he subsequently lost it to Goldberg. His fifth ‘WCW Heavyweight Championship’ came in 1999 after a bout with Kevin Nash. In a ‘Steel Cage First Blood Match’ at ‘WCW Uncensored’ the following year, ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair won the title by defeating him. In 1999, he got the ‘WCW Heavyweight Championship’ by defeating Savage.
In 2002, he made a comeback to the WWF for the ‘No Way Out’ event. Before losing it to The Undertaker on Judgment Day, he captured his sixth WWE title at Backlash. The first ‘WWE World Tag Team Championship’ he and Edge won was in 2002. Hogan was rendered unconscious by Brock Lesnar’s bear embrace shortly after. Lesnar continued to beat Hogan until he lost consciousness. Consequently, Hogan paused.
At ‘WrestleMania XIX’ in 2003, he defeated Vince McMahon, which infuriated Vince. The remainder of Hogan’s contract was then made to sit him out. After Hogan made his SmackDown debut dressed as Mr. America, Vince McMahon made many fruitless attempts to expose his actual identity.
In 2003, Mr. America departed the WWE show after the SmackDown program ended, taking off his mask to reveal who he really was. He has performed in a number of movies in addition to wrestling, such as “Suburban Commando,” “Rocky III,” “Mr. Nanny,” “No Holds Barred,” “Spy Hard,” and “Santa with Muscles.”
Bollea opened ‘Hogan’s Beach,’ a restaurant beside the beach in the Tampa area, in 2012. He was honored in Madison Square Garden during a live WWE event on February 27, 2015.

Hulk Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. Hulk Hogan became a 12-time world champion, six with WWE and six with WCW (World Championship Wrestling).

Hulk Hogan net worth
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Hogan had an estimated net worth of $25 million at the time of his death. That sum includes decades of profits from his ring career, brand endorsements, Hollywood appearances, and a widely publicized settlement with Gawker.
In 2016, Hogan was awarded $140 million in a lawsuit against Gawker over a leaked sex tape, but the settlement was later reduced to around $31 million before taxes, according to Sports Illustrated.
His net worth also includes the losses from his divorce from Linda Hogan, which resulted in him losing 70% of the couple’s liquid assets, $3 million in cash, and 40% of his company holdings. Despite the financial setbacks, he was allegedly making approximately $2.5 million yearly in recent years.
