A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to accuse a shipping company, SkyCargo, of fraudulently inflating the weight of her product to charge her nearly ₦40,000 extra.
She made this known in a video posted on her TikTok page.
According to her, she shipped an item weighing 9.5kg into Nigeria, but SkyCargo allegedly increased the weight to 12.5kg, resulting in an additional fee of almost ₦40,000.
She claimed to have verified the item’s weight with both her own scale and her supplier before shipping.
Despite this, SkyCargo insisted the item weighed 12.5kg after delivery.
“I noticed SkyCargo has been adding extra kg to people’s goods. It happened to me twice before, but I wasn’t sure. So, I used one of my packages to test it,” she explained.
“My friend also complained about this last week, so I bought a mannequin. I knew the weight and confirmed it with my supplier. When it got to SkyCargo, they didn’t reveal the weight until after shipping—then I saw 12.5kg.”
“From where? This item is supposed to be 8kg—at most 9 or 9.5kg. My husband picked up the package, and we found out it’s 9.5kg.”
Angrily, she questioned their justification for the added fee: “What’s their stupid explanation? You can’t add almost ₦40k to someone’s item and give a stupid excuse. How much are we even gaining from this? You will hear from me—I won’t calm down. You people are cheats.”
Her post has since gone viral, sparking mixed reactions in the comment section.
