Nigerian artist Reekado Banks has announced his return to the music arena with a new extended play (EP) called ‘Worthy Challenger’.

The five-track EP, released early Friday, represents the singer’s significant comeback, as he revisits the bright Afrobeats style that rocketed him to success while incorporating contemporary pop influences.

The five-track project, distributed by Ziiki Media, includes songs like ‘Samankwe,’ ‘She Is Mine,’ ‘Mathematician,’ ‘Mercy,’ and ‘Nobody’.

In an announcement on his X account, Banks addressed the project’s daring title, citing a viral exchange with fellow Nigerian musician Burna Boy six years prior.

Burna Boy rebuffed Reekado’s prior call-out, indicating that he would only engage in a “hit battle” with a “worthy challenger” at the time.

Referring to the old slight, Reekado wrote: “The next one may be called ‘Clout animal’ lol. “#WorthyChallenger is out now.”

Banks was born Ayodeji Solomon and signed with Mavin Records in 2014. He quit the label four years later.

On September 1, 2016, Reekado released his debut album, ‘Spotlight’. Nine years later, he released his second album, ‘The Game Needs You’.

The singer earned the Rookie of the Year award at The Headies in 2014 and the Next Rated trophy in 2015.
