A human rights lawyer has confirmed the release of a businesswoman who was detained after a controversial social media review about a loaf of bread.

Inibehe Effiong announced early Tuesday that Ms. Love Dooshima regained her freedom following hours in police custody at the Zone 7 Police Headquarters in Abuja.

Arrest Over Viral Bread Review

According to Effiong, Dooshima had honoured a police invitation around midday on Monday, April 20, 2026. However, she was subsequently detained after appearing before authorities.

Her arrest reportedly followed a complaint filed by BON Bread, a company that claimed ownership of the bread referenced in her viral video.

In the widely circulated clip, Dooshima alleged that the bread she purchased remained fresh for two months, raising concerns and sparking widespread reactions online.

Late-Night Intervention Secures Release

Effiong disclosed that he, alongside others including MamaPee and Randy-Peter Akah, arrived at the police facility late at night after receiving a distress call.

He stated that Dooshima was eventually released at about 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

The lawyer further revealed that her release followed the intervention of the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu.

Case Not Over Yet

Effiong hinted that further actions may follow, noting that his team would return by daybreak, suggesting that the matter is still unfolding.

“Ms. Love Dooshima, the businesswoman who made a review about an unarmed bread has just been released from police custody at Zone 7 Police Headquarters.

Bon Bread lodged a complaint to the police against her.

We received a distress call this night that she honoured police invitation since 12pm on Monday, April 20, 2026 but she was detained afterwards.

I came to Zone 7 this night along with MamaPee and Randy-Peter Akah.

Following the intervention of the IGP, Tunji Disu, she has been released at 12:30 AM today, Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

We will be back by daybreak.”
