Nollywood legend Pete Edochie has expressed frustration over Nigeria’s persistent electricity problems.
In an interview with AIT, the 78-year-old actor revealed that he spends about ₦40,000 every day just to keep his home powered.
He explained that ₦10,000 goes toward buying electricity units from the national distribution company, ₦20,000 is spent running his diesel generator, and another ₦10,000 covers his gasoline generator, totaling ₦40,000 daily.
“On the whole, I spend forty thousand every single day on light. It disturbs me a big deal. Then I listen to people who are only interested in getting into politics and enjoying power. Nobody seems to be bothered about what’s happening to the common man,” Pete Edochie lamented.
Edochie’s complaint echoes the struggles many Nigerians face, as social media has recently been flooded with reports of limited power supply.
Consumers in Band A, for example, often receive barely five hours of electricity daily out of the 22 hours they are theoretically entitled to, highlighting ongoing challenges in the country’s tiered power system.
