Benson Boone Biography
Benson James Boone was born on June 25, 2002, in Monroe, Washington, to Kerry and Nate Boone. He grew up with four sisters: Kaylee, Natalee, Emma, and Claire.
Boone attended Monroe High School, where he was a member of both the competitive diving and tennis teams. He graduated in 2020. Boone temporarily attended Brigham Young University-Idaho, a private college in Rexburg, Idaho, which is owned and run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He studied for one semester before interrupting his education to concentrate on music. Boone realised he had a musical skill when a friend invited him to play the piano and sing in their high school’s battle of the bands during his junior year. He hadn’t had no experience as a vocalist.
Career
Attending a Jon Bellion concert provided Boone with early musical inspiration, prompting him to take singing seriously. In early 2021, he auditioned for season 19 of American Idol after a buddy suggested he publish singing videos on TikTok.
Boone was invited to the show’s Hollywood Week in advance, but he withdrew from the competition shortly after reaching the Top 24 to focus on his job. The Hollywood Week performances were not televised.
Boone began uploading snippets of his original music on TikTok, where he gained 1.7 million fans before releasing his first single. He piqued the interest of Imagine Dragons vocalist Dan Reynolds, who signed Boone to his record company, Night Street Records, in collaboration with Warner Records.
The arrangement was revealed on October 15, 2021, with the release of Boone’s first single, “Ghost Town”. Boone played drums, guitar, and piano on the recording and designed the single’s artwork.
Boone played the song on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and Late Night with Seth Meyers in the United States; it went on to chart in 14 countries, including the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
On February 18, 2022, Boone released his second single, “Room for 2”. Boone has recorded several popular songs, including “In the Stars” (April 2022) and “Beautiful Things” (January 2024), with the latter topping the charts in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Norway, France, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand.
It was also his first song to reach the top five of the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number two. The song came before his debut studio album, Fireworks & Rollerblades (2024). Taylor Swift confirmed on social media in May 2024 that Boone would be one of three musicians opening for her Eras Tour dates in London at Wembley Stadium, alongside Paramore. Boone performed as the opening act for Swift’s June 23 concert.
Boone performed two sets at Coachella 2025, most notably covering “Bohemian Rhapsody”. In his first show, he was joined by Queen guitarist Brian May. Also during Coachella, he announced his second studio album, American Heart, which would be released on June 20, 2025.
From August to November 2025, Boone will embark on the American Heart World Tour, which will travel across North America and Europe to support the record.

Benson Boone is not married; he once dated Maggie Thurmon, but they broke up.
Between 2024 and 2025, Grammy-nominated artist Benson Boone was romantically involved with TikTok influencer and podcaster Maggie Thurmon.
Their romance came to light in March 2024, when they were pictured together at Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party, and they later appeared on the 2024 MTV VMA red carpet.
