China has reported over 7,000 cases of the Chikungunya virus  which broke out in July 2025, primarily in the Guangdong province.

The city of Foshan is the hardest hit, where patients are being hospitalized and required to stay under mosquito nets to prevent further transmission.

Furthermore, patients would be discharged after testing negative for the virus.

Meanwhile, authorities have taken measures to curb the spread of the virus.

In Guangdong province, residents are urged to remove stagnant water from their homes to prevent mosquito breeding.

Travelers from Foshan city are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine.

According to reports, over 240,000 cases and 90 deaths have been reported in 16 countries.
