Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has tragically passed away at the age of 28 following a car accident in Spain.
His younger brother, 26-year-old Andre Silva, a player for Liga Portugal 2 club Penafiel, also lost his life in the crash.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. local time (11:30 p.m. BST) on the A-52 motorway near Cernadilla in Zamora.
Reports indicate that their vehicle veered off the road and caught fire after a tyre burst during an overtaking attempt.
Jota had recently tied the knot with his longtime partner less than two weeks ago and leaves behind three children.
Jota became a Liverpool player in 2020 after transferring from Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he initially arrived on loan in 2017 and later secured a permanent deal in 2018.
During his time at Anfield, the 28-year-old played a key role in the club’s recent successes, contributing to Liverpool’s Premier League triumph last season and lifting both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in 2022.
Liverpool said in a statement …
“Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.
“Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, team-mates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss.
“We will continue to provide them with our full support.”
Porto, where both Jota and his brother had played, also said: “Porto is in mourning. It is with shock and deep regret that we send our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who was also our youth player. May they rest in peace.”
