He was born on August 31, 1991. He is from Ogun State and currently resides in Lekki, Lagos. Bobrisky, the Nigerian male Barbie, was raised in an ordinary, polygamous home.

His father had three marriages, and the star is his youngest child. Bobrisky was born and reared in a Muslim household, but unlike his parents, he chooses to be a Christian; yet, the church he attends remains unknown to the public.

Bobrisky began fending for himself when he was 16, and as a youngster, his mother beat him often for his feminine tendencies.

In his undergraduate years, Bobrisky would wear minimal face makeup, dress like a woman, and fool guys in clubs and pubs, but he would always deny an admirer’s request for intimacy.

During his time at UNILAG, he was renowned as a great makeup artist. The Lagos State Police Command detained him in Lekki immediately after he openly announced his homosexuality.

Despite his anxiety about openly identifying as homosexual, Bobrisky said he was jailed in response to a petition submitted against him by rival and entrepreneur Toyin Lawani.

Bobrisky organized a birthday celebration that did not go as expected. His birthday party was held at Pearl Gardens in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, Nigeria.

Some Nigerian celebrities, gays, and cross-dressers were there; however, the celebration was disrupted and shut down by police. When the police cancelled the event, he decided to leave the country.

Bobrisky received her secondary education at King’s High School and Okota High School before graduating with a BSc in accounting from the University of Lagos (UNILAG). Bobrisky was temporarily detained in 2011 for impersonating a woman to pay for university expenses and selling garments while attending university.

Career

By 2016, Bobrisky had a sizable following on Snapchat, where she posted cosmetic tutorials and marketed skin whitening treatments. Progressive journalists have chastised her for encouraging skin lightening and sexism. She was interviewed for the 2019 documentary Skin, which explores colorism among Nigerian women.

Bobrisky also gained popularity on Snapchat in 2016 and 2017 for referring to a partner who many mistook for a guy, even though same-sex relationships are illegal in Nigeria. Around that time, Bobrisky claimed to be a heterosexual guy who disguised himself as a woman to increase product sales. Bobrisky came out against same-sex marriage and in favor of anti-homosexuality legislation, which concerned other LGBTQ persons in Nigeria.

In October 2016, Bobrisky was asked to speak at a social media conference in Abuja. Nigerian presidential adviser Bashir Ahmad openly withdrew from the event owing to Bobrisky’s attendance. According to Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager for West Africa, Bobrisky was the most googled individual in Nigeria from October 26 to November 2016.

In 2019, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, Director General of Nigeria’s National Council for Arts and Culture, referred to Bobrisky as “a national disgrace” and stated that if spotted on the streets, she would be “dealt with ruthlessly” owing to her immoral lifestyle. He continued to insult her in 2021.

She got big on TikTok in 2021 after designing the “Bobrisky” dance. Bobrisky has also gained recognition for her affiliations with other Nigerian celebrities, such as Tonto Dikeh. She announced a new physical look in July 2021, having had surgery to become more feminine. In 2025, she described herself as “a woman who has undergone everything.”

In 2022, the Nigerian House of Representatives filed a measure to criminalize cross-dressing as an amendment to the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act 2013, which was noticed as possibly affecting Bobrisky if approved. Bobrisky said it wouldn’t affect her because she wasn’t a cross-dresser and had undergone surgery to become a woman.

In April 2024, VeryDarkMan requested that the police investigate her for suspected public homosexuality.

Controversy

Bobrisky was detained in early April 2024 after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigated alleged naira currency defacement. The allegations originated from social media videos that purported to show her throwing money in the air, including at a film premiere the month before.

Money spraying is widespread at parties, although the legislation against it is selectively enforced, seldom resulting in more than a fine. Bobrisky pleaded guilty to four charges of money misuse on April 5, 2024. The maximum punishment for this offense is six months in jail.

On April 12, 2024, Bobrisky was sentenced to the maximum of six months in jail with no possibility of a fine for “abusing and mutilating” Naira notes. Bobrisky was freed from jail on August 5, 2024.

VeryDarkMan produced an audiotape in September 2024, claiming it proved evidence that Bobrisky bought officials to dismiss money laundering accusations and let her serve her prison sentence in a private apartment. Two jail officials were suspended during the inquiry into the claims.

She rejected the charges, and an investigation panel dismissed them in October 2024. The panel also determined that keeping Bobrisky in a high-security prison violated the Nigerian Correctional Service Act because she was a first-time offender.

On October 20, 2024, the Nigerian Immigration Service apprehended Bobrisky as she attempted to exit the nation via the Seme border, citing her status as “a person of interest over recent issues of public concern.” She remained in detention overnight until being moved to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Alagbon, Lagos, on October 21, 2024.

The EFCC detained her again when she attempted to board an aircraft to London at the end of October, claiming that they wanted her to back up her recent charges against them.

In mid-November 2024, Bobrisky sued the EFCC for breach of basic rights, including neglecting to authenticate the validity of VeryDarkMan’s audio recording before calling for public hearings on it, which caused injury to her health and reputation.

Bobrisky’s claim was rejected by the Federal High Court in Lagos on November 28, 2024. Justice Alexander Owoeye concluded that Bobrisky’s “claims of violation of fundamental rights” lacked substance and could not be supported by “credible evidence.”

Personal Life

Bobrisky was raised in a polygamous household since his father had three wives, and he was the last child of his deceased mother. He posted a photo of himself with his mother, and admirers were shocked by the elder woman’s attractiveness.
