Moses Simon played a crucial role in Nantes‘ 1-0 victory over Lille on Saturday, dispelling doubts about his fitness ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Despite concerns over lingering ankle pain from a fibula fracture suffered in March 2024, Simon completed 90 minutes at Stade de la Beaujoire.

The winger set up the decisive goal in the 83rd minute, delivering a pinpoint cross for Mostafa Mohamed to head past Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier.

Simon has now registered six goals and eight assists in 24 Ligue 1 appearances this season.

His performance comes as a boost for Nigeria ahead of their upcoming fixtures against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
