Germany finished first place in their Euro 2024 group with a late draw against Switzerland in Frankfurt, ensuring a spot in the next round.

Although Germany dominated possession in the clash, they struggled to create clear-cut chances.

Their best opportunity in the first half came from Robert Andrich’s long-range effort, which awkwardly bounced past Yann Sommer but was disallowed due to a foul in the buildup.

Switzerland took advantage of Germany’s defensive lapses, breaking the deadlock in the 28th minute.

Dan Ndoye converted a cross from Remo Freuler, giving the Swiss a deserved lead.

The second half saw Germany continue to dominate but failed in front of goal.

Despite forcing several saves from Sommer and desperate defending from Switzerland, they couldn’t find the back of the net.

Just as it seemed Germany might lose their grip on first place, Niclas Füllkrug stepped up.

He converted a David Raum cross in the dying minute to secure a draw for Germany, ensuring they finished top of the group with seven points.

Germany will now face the second-place team from Group C in Dortmund on Saturday.
