Germany progressed to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 with a 2-0 win over Denmark in a match delayed for 25-minute due to a thunderstorm in Dortmund.
The chaos began early when Nico Schlotterbeck scored a header for Germany, only for the goal to be disallowed for a foul by Joshua Kimmich.
Then, with 36 minutes on the clock, lightning and hailstones forced the on-field referee to halt the game, sending players off the pitch.
After the weather delay, Joachim Andersen scored for Denmark, but VAR disallowed the goal.
Andersen then handled the ball in the 18-yard box moments later, resulting in a penalty for Germany, which Kai Havertz converted.
Jamal Musiala later secured the win with a second goal, ensuring Germany’s place in the next round of Euro 2025 tournament.
