Cape Verde delivered a ridiculing upset as they secured a 2-1 win against Ghana in a Group B encounter at the African Cup of Nations.
The match which held at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Sunday night, saw the Blue Sharks take the lead in the 17th minute through a goal by Jamiro Monteiro.
Despite Ghana’s efforts to level the score, a goal by Mohammed Ashimeru was ruled out for offside, denying them an equalizer.
However, the Black Stars managed to find the back of the net with Alexander Djiku’s header from Jordan Ayew’s corner kick in the 56th minute.
With the game seemingly headed for a draw, Cape Verde delivered a late twist as Garry Rodrigues secured the victory with a fine finish in stoppage time, sealing their position at the top of Group B.
